North Carolina nursing students from Duke University, Western Carolina University, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte entered a competition earlier this year to produce informative patient education videos. “Get the Picture Patient Video Competition”—conducted by the Innovative Nursing Education Technologies (iNet) organization—required nursing students to create a 10-minute or less and upload the film to YouTube.
Each group picked topics from iNet’s website and had until April 15 to post their video.
The top three winning videos all come from UNC Charlotte and cover hypertension, blood clots, and smoking. The winning video, “Because My Pressure Got High,” focuses on hypertension; what people know about the disease, its symptoms, and how to treat it. Some of the lyrics include:
“I was gonna stop eating junk,
’cause my pressure was high.
No more burgers, fried chicken or fries
’cause my pressure was high.”
All the members of the winning groups receive $1,000 and the winning videos will be shown at iNet’s 2010 conference, on August 6 at UNC Charlotte.

What are other creative ways to educate patients on important topics? During nursing school, were you ever encouraged to create a poster or a video to educate patients?

One knows that today’s life seems to be expensive, but different people need money for various issues and not every person earns big sums cash. So to get some business loans and credit loan would be a proper solution.
