Our first contest on the newly redesigned StressedOutNurses.com was a popular one. The topic? We asked you to share some of the crazy baby names you’ve heard in the line of duty as a nurse. Some were goofy, some were creative, and some were a bit too racy to print.
Our panel of judges fought, argued, and pleaded cases for their favorites, but one name stood above the rest: Lae-a. Why did this one take the cake? The “-” isn’t silent. Our winner Layne explains the name is pronounced “La dash ah.”
The competition was tough, though. Sure, we’ve all heard some wild celebrity baby names, including Apple (offspring of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow), Moon Unit (offspring of Frank Zappa), Suri (offspring of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes), and Pilot Inspektor (offspring of Jason Lee and Beth Riesgraf), but some of the names we heard were even better. Here’s a sampling of the best of the rest:
- Twin boys named Orangejello and Lemonjello
- Parolee
- Shanda Lear
- Placenta
- Cherry Vanilla
- Faran Heit
- Sweet Opps
- Chaos
But the creative, unique name Lae-a couldn’t be beat. And Layne won herself a StressedOutNurses T-shirt, which, fortunately, can also be used as a holiday gift … hmmm.
That gave us an idea for our next contest. In the spirit of the season, tell us the worst and best holiday gifts you’ve ever received. Feel free to include who the giver was and the context in which it was given. We’ll award two prizes:
- The winner of the best holiday gift contest will receive a Stressed Out Nurses T-shirt.
- The winner of the worst holiday gift contest will receive a copy a Stressed Out book of his or her choice because, well, everyone deserves a nice gift around the holidays.
