The nursing shortage places a heavy emphasis on the education and development of competent nurses to provide the safest patient care. A Web site is now offering nursing school educators and students some assistance outside the classroom.
Liko North America, a supplier of patient lift and transfer products and resources, recently launched a “Nursing Schools” section of its Safe Lifting Portal Web site to help educators develop curriculum and safe lifting practices. It’s also intended to aid students with research related to patient safety, patient handling, and strategies to help curb injuries due to lifting and repositioning patients.
The new section of the free Web site features a number of classroom handouts, articles, sample curriculum, and student resources. Educators and students can also find information in the implementation of safe lifting programs, a monthly electronic newsletter, and an “Ask the Lift Doctor” section on the Safe Lifting Portal.

Mike, the Safe Lifting Portal is wonderful. I just ordered various tools to help educate and protect my staff from preventable back injury. Thank you so much for providing this site. I hope that others will take advantage of this.
